I had the pleasure of shooting these two very smiley ladies and their adorable dog back in December, and it’s honestly a crime that I haven’t shared them with the world yet. Things have been intense for everyone right now with the converging pandemics of COVID-19 and white supremacy, and I didn’t want to just blog away like nothing was happening. But June is also pride month, and is a good time to sit back and remember that it was a violent riot led by trans women of color that started us on the path to where we are today. It wasn’t by asking nicely that the LGBTQ+ community won the right to marriage, to laugh and kiss in the streets, to not be discriminated against in the workplace. Let's keep fighting for progress and equality!
Now, let me tell you a little bit about Mal and Claire. Back in the day, I actually used to carpool to school every day with Claire, because her brother and I went to the same high school. Even before that, she helped coach my 8th grade lacrosse team (before you ask, I was terrible and never scored a single goal all season, but Claire was awesome!) Together, these two are hilarious, sweet, and definitely the kind of people I’d want to hang out with. I know I say this about pretty much all the couples I take photos of, but they really are just genuinely cool people. I follow both of them on Instagram, and let me tell you you are missing out if you don’t get updates on the amazing things Mal cooks, or Claire’s growing collection of photos of weird vanity license plates. It’s some very top notch content.
Now since you probably came here mostly for the cute photos, go meet the dog I am maybe considering stealing.
