Tucked out on Île Perrot, past the bowling alley and the Dairy Queen with the best old fashioned sign, Quinn Farm is a gem. I showed up early for this shoot, walked the dog down the quiet main road to the edge of the river to chase rocks I dropped into the water, then laced up my boots for a stamp through the apple trees.
I think orchards are just about the best place for a family shoot. They’re welcoming to excited and loud kids of any age, often even to dogs as well, and with an activity for everyone to participate in, no one feels awkward or unsure of how to pose or where to stand. Plus, you go home with beautiful photos and a whole bag of apples to eat. What’s better than that? And in late October, when only the last few apples remain and the air is crisp and feels sharp and wintery to breathe in, when the orchard is almost empty even on a sunny Saturday, it’s even more perfect.
This was little Anna’s first trip to the orchard, and she loved it! Though she’s quite the serious and contemplative baby and her smiles can be rare, she looked at everything with wide eyes. It couldn’t have been easier to take beautiful photos of that little face full of wonder. Thank you Anna, Jenna, and Lawson for inviting me out to the farm with you!
